The DIY Pastrami video shows how to assemble a Rooftop sandwich with pastrami, cheddar, beer mustard, and sauerkraut. You can follow the visual preparation and check the products before choosing the format for your kitchen.
Video walkthrough
- 00:08 — Opening the pastrami: The cook opens the package of pre-sliced product; there is no need to slice a whole piece.
- 00:12-00:16 — Steaming area: The pastrami is removed from the plastic next to a pot with a steamer insert. The pastrami is prepared separately from the bread assembly.
- 00:33-00:42 — Bread and cheddar: The cheese is cut on the board and slices are placed on the bread.
- 00:50 — Mustard: Beer mustard is used from the jar for assembly. The sauerkraut is kept in its own container alongside the other ingredients.
- 01:07 — Frying pan: The bread is worked in the pan using a spatula. The pastrami pot and the frying pan are two separate work zones.
- 01:15 — Cut and serve: The assembled sandwich is cut, with the toasted bread and the filling of meat, cheese, and sauerkraut visible.
The timestamps are used to locate scenes. The video lasts approximately a minute and a half: this is not the time required to prepare or heat all the ingredients. It does not include grammages per sandwich, number of servings, or measured cooking times.
Pack or individual ingredients
The DIY Pastrami box brings together products for this combination: pastrami, sauerkraut, beer mustard, smoked butter, and cheddar. Check the current pack contents before buying additional ingredients; the bread of your choice is another component of the assembly.
If you purchase separately, the 100g sliced pastrami and the 500g format are already cut. Choose according to your usage and the rest of the menu: the container size does not determine the portions on its own.
Complete your selection with smoked cheddar, beer mustard, and sauerkraut. The mustard and sauerkraut serve different purposes; they are not two names for the same type of fermented product.
Preparation and allergens
To prepare the pastrami in the format you have purchased, follow its instructions and the pastrami preparation and selection guide. Do not leave the product inside the plastic to replicate a scene from the video: the cook removes the packaging before beginning kitchen work.
The cheddar and butter contain MILK. The mustard contains MUSTARD, GLUTEN, and SULPHITES. Also check the bread, pastrami, sauerkraut, and potential traces for each reference. Store the remaining containers according to their labels; their shelf life after opening does not automatically apply to the prepared sandwich.
